The Abibitumi Abibifahodie Film Festival 2026 begins October 16 in Accra. Before opening day, name one story from your family, town, language community, institution, or repatriation journey that should not remain undocumented.
Share only what is yours to share. Tell us why the story matters, who should be consulted, and what treatment would respect the people involved. Then identify one first action: an interview, archive search, storyboard, filmmaker introduction, or community screening.
A festival audience can also become a story-development community. Let us arrive knowing what we need our own cameras to preserve.

The Abibitumi Abibifahodie Film Festival 2026 begins October 16 in Accra. Before opening day, choose one word from an Kmtyw language that names memory, truth, return, courage, beauty, responsibility, power, or liberation.
Post the word, its language, a careful explanation, and one question it helps us ask of a film. Then invite someone else to add a concept from another language.
A serious audience needs more than imported critical vocabulary. We can bring our own concepts into the room and use them to see, name, and discuss what the screen makes possible.

The program brings together Conversations, Opportunities, Ownership, and Repatriation through keynotes, diaspora repatriate perspectives, student recruitment, entrepreneurship and innovation, exhibitions, networking, and media engagement.
This is our community roll call. Name one kind of person, institution, or initiative that must be represented—and explain what they should bring to the conversation. Students? Educators? Repatriates? Entrepreneurs? Investors? Organizers? Cultural workers? Media?

FilmFreeway now marks entries closed for the 2026 Abibitumi Abibifahodie Film Festival. The official festival dates are October 16–18, 2026, with online screenings and an in-person Gala and Awards gathering in Accra.
This year's theme is Kemet for the Kemetyu: At Home and Abroad, organized around Revolution, Reclamation, Restoration, and Retribution.
